Effect of Roughness on Mechanical Properties of Polypropylene Reinforced by Carbon Fiber Cloth

Abstract：In order to study the effect of roughness on mechanical properties of polypropylene reinforced by carbon fiber sheets. Polypropylene specimens with different surface roughness were made by grinding and pasted on the specimens with the same geometric size and the same number of carbon fiber sheets. Meanwhile, during the process of making specimens, 15 specimens were made and three groups of tensile experiments were carried out A, B, C. The experimental results show that the roughness has a significant effect on the improvement of the tensile property of polypropylene strengthened by carbon fiber cloth. The experimental results of group B and group C show that under the same experimental force, when the roughness value increases in the range of 0.141-2.751, the deformation resistance of the specimen gradually increases and the deformation amount of the specimen gradually decreases. At the same time, with the increase of roughness value, the value of linear slope of the test force-displacement curve in the range of 0.61 to 5.61 within the test force range of 0.5-0.6 kN in the experiment, and the increase amplitude also increases gradually with the increase of roughness.
