Injection Molding Simulation of Cable Joint Coat based on Moldex3D

Abstract：Moldex3D software was used to establish 3D model according to the appearance characteristics of the cable joint coat, and the mesh of the model was established and repaired, then the flow channel and cooling water way were designed. On this basis, the injection molding process parameters of the cable joint coat were set, and the filling process, dent displacement, flatness, volume shrinkage and warping deformation of the cable joint coat were analyzed by mode flow analysis. According to the data analysis results, the melt temperature, mould temperature and filling time were took as three factors (each factor in three levels), and the orthogonal test with three factors and three levels was designed. Taking the volume shrinkage ratio and warpage total displacement as criterion of the orthogonal test, range analysis was carried out for the two criteria, then the optimal injection molding process parameters were got. The results indicate that the appearance quality of the cable joint coat is the best when the melt temperature is 190℃, the mould temperature is 60℃ and the filling time is 1.2 s. Compared with the initial results before the orthogonal test, the volume shrinkage decreases by 12.9%, and the warpage total displacement decreases by 13.8%.
